Create a new webform

Last updated: July 28, 2026

You can create webforms to generate new orders that are automatically assigned to a workflow and an assignee.

Create a new webform

  1. Click Webforms.

  2. Click Create new form.

  3. Enter a descriptive name for the webform in the Webform name field.

  4. Select an existing workflow from the Workflow dropdown. You can click Edit workflows to manage them. Note that if you select a workflow template from another organization, an active partnership with that organization is required.

  5. Select a user from the Default assignee dropdown to automatically assign orders generated by this webform.

  6. (Optional) To display a partner logo on your webform, toggle the Show partner logo option. Once enabled, you will see a placeholder logo on the webform preview. When sharing the webform with a partner, their logo will be shown in place of the placeholder when customers fill in the form.

  7. Click Submit to create the webform.

The new webform appears in your Webforms list. You can also edit the workflow associated with an existing webform at any time by navigating to its settings.

Manage questions in the webform editor

After creating the webform, you can add and manage questions within the webform editor. The editor now supports inline rendering of questions, allowing you to see how they will appear to users as you build the form.

To manage questions:

  1. Navigate to the webform editor.

  2. Add new questions by selecting the desired question type from the available options.

  3. Add images to questions or their alternatives. For question types that support images (e.g., picture choice), you can upload an image directly to the question or to individual alternatives.

  4. Rearrange the order of questions using the drag-and-drop functionality. Simply click and drag a question to its new position in the form.

  5. Edit existing questions directly within the editor to modify their text, type, or other properties.

  6. Target structured order attributes. You can now configure questions to target specific structured order attributes, such as name, email, address, customer legal ID, or property details. This allows collected data to automatically populate relevant fields in the order, streamlining data entry and ensuring accuracy.

  7. Capture External ID. You can configure a question to capture an 'External ID' for the order. This allows you to link orders in Installer.com to external systems using a unique identifier.

  8. Apply MPAN validation. For custom fields that require MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) validation, you can now apply this validation to ensure that the entered data is a valid MPAN format. This helps maintain data accuracy for energy-related installations.

  9. Enhanced input fields. Input fields now automatically expand as you type, and suggestions are rendered inline to improve the user experience when configuring questions or when users fill out the webform.

  10. Improved question validation. Webform question validation for required fields, including multi-value and file fields, now works as expected, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

Share your webform

Once created, you can find the public URL for your webform in the webform's settings. This URL follows the format /webforms/:webformId/fill, where :webformId is the unique identifier for your webform. Share this link with your customers or partners to allow them to fill out the webform. Filling out the webform now navigates to a new dedicated order creation page. Additionally, the 'Start' button on the webform list will also direct users to this new order creation page.
