Send DNO applications through ENA Connect

In the UK, connecting an EV charger needs an application to the DNO, the company that runs the local electricity network. The DNO application step sends that application through ENA Connect from the order’s answers, and completes when the DNO approves it.

Before you start

ENA Connect is available on request. If ENA Connect is greyed out under Integrations, contact sales.

Connect ENA Connect

  1. Select Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Under Advanced, select Integrations.
  3. Select ENA Connect, then Connect.

Automatically submit DNO applications now reads Enabled. It has no switch: it runs on every order whose workflow has the DNO application step.

Add the step to a workflow

  1. Select Workflows in the sidebar and open the workflow. A published version is read-only: select Start editing to work on the draft.
  2. Select Add at the bottom of the timeline.
  3. Select None of these fit, then DNO application, then Add 1 step.
  4. Select the step. Under Installer actor, pick the actor whose organization ENA records as the installer.
  5. Under Custom field IDs, enter the custom ID of the order field each answer is read from.
  6. Select Publish.

The application uses these answers:

From Answers
The order Customer name, Customer phone, Customer email, Address, Postcode
The installer actor Installer organization
Order fields, by custom ID MPAN, Declared voltage at connection point, Number of phases, CT metered, Max import capacity, Premises cut-out rating, Looped supply, No issues with supply, No safety concerns, Import limiting device present, Device system reference, Proposed install date, New premises max demand, Cut-out image

MPAN and Max import capacity are optional. ENA looks the MPAN up from the address when it is left out.

Follow an application

When the step starts, it sends the application. The step shows where it stands:

Status What it means
Missing information Answers are empty. The step lists them. Fill them in and select Send again.
Sending The application is on its way to ENA.
Awaiting decision ENA has the application and the DNO has not decided.
DNO needs more The DNO asked for more information or for works. Select View details to read its comment.
Approved The DNO approved it. The step completes.
Failed ENA refused the application. The reason shows on the step. Fix it and select Send again.

Installer.com reads each application from ENA every 30 minutes. To read it now, select View details, then Refresh from ENA.

Every organization on the order sees its applications, including earlier ones that failed or were rejected.

See all applications

On the step, select All DNO applications. You can also open Settings > Integrations > ENA Connect and select Open DNO applications. Search by order, address or application ID.
