Set up alternatives and add-ons in an offer

Every line in an offer carries an Offer as setting. It decides whether the line is always part of the price, one of several alternatives the client picks between, or an extra the client can add. Use it to send one offer covering several options instead of sending three separate offers.

The three options

Offer as What it does
Included Automatically included in the offer.
Customer chooses one The client picks exactly one of the lines set this way.
Optional add-on The client can add this if they want. Off by default.

Anything you add is Included until you change it.

Set it while adding an offering

  1. Open the order and select the Offer step.
  2. Select Add offering.
  3. Find the product or bundle in the picker.
  4. Select the chevron beside Add, then choose Customer chooses one, Included or Optional add-on.

Selecting Add on its own adds the line as Included.

Change it on a line you already added

  1. Select the line in the offer.
  2. Set Offer as.
  3. Select Close. The offer saves as you edit it.

A bundle’s lines all share one setting. To change it, open the bundle’s menu, select Edit bundle, and set Offer as there. The client takes or drops the whole bundle together, never part of it.

Set a default for every order on a workflow

  1. Select Workflows in the sidebar.
  2. Open the workflow, then select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Offers.
  4. Build the Default offer and set Offer as on each line.
  5. Select Save.

What the client sees

On the Confirm offer step, the offer splits into three sections in this order: Choose one, Included, then Add-ons. The order is always the same, whatever order you built the lines in.

The client selects Choose on one alternative, and Choose or Remove on each add-on. The cheapest alternative is selected to begin with, and no add-ons are. If the offer has alternatives, exactly one must stay selected for the offer to be accepted.

Prices before the client decides

Until the offer is accepted, the total is a range: the cheapest path the client could pick to the most expensive. Once accepted, the summary shows the single total for what they chose.

When the selection locks

Once a payment through Installer.com has started or completed on any line, the selection is fixed and the client can no longer change it. Removing a line at that point takes a credit instead. A line marked as paid outside Installer.com does not lock the offer.
