Manage chats from the order list
An order’s chats open in a panel beside the order list, so you can read and reply without leaving the list.
Open an order’s chats
- Click Orders in the sidebar.
- Find the order’s row and click the chat button at the right end of the row. Pointing at it reads Open chats.
- Pick a chat from the list, write your message in the message box and click the send button (Send message).
The button is only on rows that already have a chat. To start the first chat on an order, open the order.
On a wide screen the panel docks to the right of the list, and shows the order’s chat list beside the open chat when there is room for both. On a narrow screen it opens as a drawer over the list, titled Chats with the order’s name and ID underneath.
One panel is open at a time. Opening the chats on another order replaces it.
In the panel header:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| New chat | Starts another chat on the same order. |
| Open | Opens the order’s own page. |
| X | Closes the panel. The row’s chat button does the same, and reads Close chats while the panel is open. |
Identify new messages
A row’s chat button carries a count of the order’s unread messages, across every chat on that order. Above nine it reads 9+.
Clicking the button opens a chat with unread messages, rather than the chat list.
To work through the backlog:
- Click the Unread messages view in the sidebar to list only the orders with unread messages. It is called My unread messages when the list is scoped to you.
- Sort the list by Last chat message to put the orders with the newest, or oldest, messages first.
